Trina, I love the sentiment in the article, and in your post. Unfortunately I believe a large number of CEOs are only giving this lip service. Innovation and creativity are largely discouraged at companies (at least once they become successful). Creativity and innovation can result in failures. Disruption is the LAST thing most managers want (one of the reasons I am no longer a corporate creature ;-) ). Which is a shame - the most dangerous words in business are "that's the way we've always done it." Maintaining the status quo is a sure fire way to blazing a trail to oblivion.

Unfortunately, humor, much like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder. When everyone has a line you should not cross, it is difficult to draw a single bright line. How far is too far? It is situational, so I try to adjust my humor to the crowd I am with. There may be times I take a step too far, but I believe it is too important to, as you say, "honor our humorous nature" or, as I might alternatively say, bring as much laughter into the world as possible, to not risk it.

As Stephen Covey said, "seek to understand, then to be understood". Unfortunately, it seems that so often now we seek to "win" rather than engage. I miss conversations where at various points during the discussion participants say "OK, I see your point..." and let the conversation flow down a completely new direction. These days I seem to have those so rarely. The concept of respecting another's viewpoint while, still alive, is buried in anger and noise way too often.

Wouldn't it be nice if everyone could recognize there are three sides to every story: Your side, My side, and Reality, which is somewhere in-between.

That's not Bill Murray on the right--wish it were!
He was there an hour after my grandma and I left the scene in '93. That's the year he was in Punxsy researching his role for the Groundhog Day movie. We missed him by one hour!

"Family photos are kinda like predictions. Take lots of them. Hopefully, one will come out OK."

Just read about the Wizard Academy in Austin:
"Traditional business schools teach you to wait until all the data is available.
We teach you how to make the right decision before all the data is available.

The big fish are no longer eating the little fish. The fast fish are eating the slow.
We teach you how to be the fast fish."

Absoutely! World culture is changing, the way countries do business is changing. These changes are unpredictable. My celebration of G-20 is to applaud the inclusion of developing countries and laugh at all the surprises and confusion.
