Musings on the place of humor and comedy in our daily lives--and other funny things by Trina Hess. Comments welcome!
Know Thy Audience
I was planning on writing a three-part series about Humor and Massage Therapy.  Really.  But then I  heard the news about Michael Jackson.  And like any speaker or comedian would, I will state the obvious.  Talk about our common situation.

Some of my comic friends are already writing jokes on Facebook and sending to me.  Others are holding back.  Maybe until enough time has passed.  How DO you handle something like this if you are speaking?  How did speakers handle the Twin Towers attacks, if they had to speak that day (like my friend Craig Valentine had to do).  How would you handle yourself and your message in light of a recent tragedy that you and your audience shared?

This is where Humor enters in.  Really.  Eventually we will be able to laugh again.  Maybe not about Michael Jackson--especially if you are related to him, or knew him personally.  Possibly not about the Twin Towers attack, maybe never.  But within our own personal tragedies, the good news is that we do and we can and we will laugh again.

So will the families of Farrah, Michael, Ed McMahon.  We will learn how to, "Get Your SHINE Together!" because humor can heal.
