Have you seen the new Star Trek movie?  It made me think of the episode in the original series, called, "The Empath."  A woman empathized with everyone's emotions.  Eventually it sapped her strength and she imploded. I'm not exactly sure that is what happened to her, but it sounds like a good ending for a sci-fi character.  

Guess what--we are ALL empaths.  More or less.  Depending on our surroundings, emotions, coping strategies, and stress levels. 

Yes, it IS that easy to be affected by our external environment. 

That's why it's vital to learn how to, "Get Your SHINE Together!"  We can defend ourselves against personal implosion, and all it takes is a sense of humor.
