Musings on the place of humor and comedy in our daily lives--and other funny things by Trina Hess. Comments welcome!

Liar Liar!
The reports are in--which April Fool's Day pranks were successful? The one where the computer virus got my dentist office's computer. My friend's daughter said she is pregnant. The World's Strongest Redneck wants to golf with us. Someone had a heart attack while driving in front of me.
People are brilliant! And healthy. There are many health benefits from April Fool's Day, for those who take part in the festivities.
* Just planning, imagining the reactions, and smiling to oneself all give health benefits. Lowered blood pressure, calmed nervous system, improved mood--all happen even before the prank occurs.
* We improve our creativity by thinking up grand schemes, devise clever sub-plots, and figure out how to keep from laughing.
* We connect with other people. The best pranks are those that relate to something recent that happened to us both. The dog ran into a porcupine--just like last week. We draw in people who are not in our normal circle of acquaintance. We let them in on the joke. We create a chain reaction of fun.
We help them to, "Get Your SHINE Together!"
